About

“Wherever there is gauzy, dense, drumless ambient, Rafael Anton Irisarri is not far away.”
Pitchfork (USA)

“If you’ve listened to an ambient album from the last decade, there’s a good chance Rafael Anton Irisarri’s fingerprints are on it.”
Spectrum Culture (USA)

Black Knoll is a New York mastering studio shaped by precision and restraint, built around purpose, and grounded in the idea that albums should be made to outlast the moment.

Founded by Rafael Anton Irisarri in 2010 in the Pacific Northwest, the studio relocated to the Hudson Valley in 2014, where it continues to specialize in high-end analog and digital mastering.

Over the past two decades, Irisarri has worked on records for labels such as Deutsche Grammophon, Warp, Domino, Ghostly International, Thrill Jockey, and Temporary Residence, as well as for independent artists who treat the album as a complete statement rather than disposable content.

Black Knoll is guided by a simple ethos: preserve the intent, respect the craft, and deliver masters that hold up in thirty years, not disappear in fifteen seconds.
